Paper Is A Catalyst...And Wacoms Are A Must

I’ve been so stupid busy with life lately guys. I’ve been working out everyday to get back in shape (Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred. It’s works). Trying to wipe hard drives and reinstall OS’s…it’s been some stuff.

Fortunately, work has suddenly been slow, and since I don’t have Illustrator on my work computer to work on comissions, I draw in FireAlpaca when no one is looking. :)

I’ve been on a Martha Graham kick as of late (if you don’t know who she is, look in to her. She’s awesome) so here are some doodles I’ve done based on “Night Journey”.

Livestream is closed guys, but here is one of the things I worked on.

This is a rough sketch of Tatsuya, Ichisumi’s “lover”. I say lover in quotes because though they felt strongly for each other, they never had a physically amorous relationship.

Tatsuya doesn’t come from a severely poor family, but he is by no means well-to-do. Add to this that he is not the first son, meaning he will not inherit his father’s possessions, and he doesn’t do so well financially. He falls for Ichisumi before she becomes a maiko. Back in those days, her name was Setsuko.

I wanted to design Tatsuya a gentle giant. Large and intimidating by looks, but actually kind and often quiet spoken. He doesn’t mind his lot in life at all….that is until money separates him from Setsuko.
